FAQ

Q: Are the teachers trained?

A: Yes.

Our minumum requirement for teachers is a Level 4 qualification in Early Childhood Development (ECD) and Level 1 of First Aid. They must also be fluent in English and most importantly, have love for children and a passion for education.  All our staff attend workshops every term to help with career and personal development.

Q: What language are the children taught in?

A: English

Q: What if my child can't speak English?

A: Children learn very fast, especially when they learn with their peers.  In no time they'll be they'll be expressing themselves confidently in English.  Continue speaking to them in their mother tongue at home, because children have an amazing ability to learn more than one language at the same time.

Q: What do the children do all day?

A: There is a set timetable filled with activities that will prepare their brains for learning, feed their curiosity, and aid their physical development.

There is new theme to learn about every week, and sometimes the children will be asked to bring theme-related items from home, to use during lessons e.g. a green toy when learning about colours, or a cereal box for creating an art piece.

We request that all children be at school by 8:00am everyday so that they can participate fully in the day’s program.

For more details on the activities please see the Our Offering page.

Q: Do you potty-train children?

A: We toilet train children when they are 2years old using child-size toilets not potties, with the aim that they will be able to use the toilet unassisted, by the age of 3 years.

Q: Do you provide meals?

A:
We provide:

  • Breakfast - soft porridge or oats or mabela served at 8:30am

  • Lunch - varies daily from pasta & mince to rice & veggie-chicken stew, always well-balanced meal and always has veggies

  • Afternoon Snack - a light sandwich to tide them over until they are picked up

There is a menu at school for parents to see. We don't allow children to bring any extra snacks, to prevent unhappiness among the children.

Q: What should I pack for my child daily?

A: Children come to school wearing their school uniform and carry a school bag packed with an extra set of clothes (just in case they need to change) and their stationery.  Please make sure that everything is clearly labelled with their name and surname.

Children that wear nappies, must come with nappies, wipes and bum cream, in their bags.

A stationery list is available upon enrolment.
