Our Story

Edith Monareng founded ECLAH Pre-School in 1994. Armed with knowledge, driven by a passion for children, education and a heart filled with a desire to enrich their lives, ECLAH remains as determined today to:

• enrich the minds of children through education,
• enrich their bodies through nutritious meals, exercise and play;
• enrich their spirits with Biblical principles and teachings

The redevelopment of the Johannesburg CBD has seen an increase in city residences. In this increasingly demanding environment, where many children live in multi-storey buildings, ECLAH has remained a favourite amongst parents not only for its ability to maintain outdoor playgrounds at all its branches but for its solid reputation for quality education for more than 25 years.

We have grown steadily, making sure that we always place the enrichment of our children's lives at heart in the center of what we do. Here are a few proud moments in our 25 year history:

Deputy President Jacob Zuma visits ECLAH

The Fordsburg branch opened its doors in 2000.   It is situated at Carr Gardens, a converted historical monument, a 1922 police station preserved by law.  On an August 2001 visit, the then Deputy President Jacob Zuma and Housing Minister Sankie Mthembi-Mahanyele visited Carr Gardens and our Fordsburg branch, a proud moment captured in the picture above.

It has grown to become a key part of the Fordsburg community and remain grateful for parents in Fordsburg continuing to select ECLAH Fordsburg as their pre-school of choice.

Newtown branch opens its doors

The Newtown branch opened its doors in July 2007. It is situated at Brickfields; another housing development of historical significance. Brickfields is developed on the land that once served as Johannesburg’s original brickfields, where the first bricks that were used to build the city were made.

ECLAH learners at the opening of Tribunal Gardens

In 2002 our learners were honoured to be invited to do a dance performance and sing the national anthem at the opening of Tribunal Gardens which was opened by former President Thabo Mbeki.

Cosmo City branch opens its doors

The Cosmo City branch of ECLAH pre-school opened in September 2007. The branch continues to grow from strength to strength and is now an established part of the community in ext. 5.
